List of designated places in Quebec : ウィキペディア英語版 | List of designated places in Quebec A designated place is a type of geographic unit used by Statistics Canada to disseminate census data. It is usually a small community that does not meet the criteria used to define incorporated municipalities or Statistics Canada population centres (areas with a population of at least 1,000 and no fewer than 400 persons per square kilometre). Designated places are created by provinces and territories, in cooperation with Statistics Canada, to provide data for submunicipal areas.〔 As of the 2011 Census of Canada, Quebec had 106 designated places; of these, 94 are dissolved municipalities (''municipalité dissoute'') and 12 are unconstituted localities (''localité non constituée''). Quebec’s largest designated place is Sutton, located within the larger ville of Sutton, and has a population of 1,728. == List == The following is a list of designated places in Quebec. In many cases, the name of the designated place is the same as the name of the municipality within which it is located.
